Pretoria – This month, some of the most enchanting art in Pretoria has been created by children under the age of 13.

From Friday, 22 May to Sunday, 31 May 2026, Woodlands Boulevard will be hosting the 4th Annual Primary Schools’ Art Exhibit, a complimentary community showcase displaying artwork from 18 local primary schools throughout the mall.

For many young artists involved, this will be their first experience of showcasing their creations to the public.

This opportunity is something that Woodlands Boulevard cherishes.

“Art gives children a voice that transcends the classroom, and seeing their work in a public space is incredibly meaningful,” stated Barbara Perry, Marketing Manager at the mall.

“For numerous children, this is the first occasion that anyone beyond their school will witness their creations.

“We believe this kind of acknowledgment is important, which is why the exhibition has become a vital part of our community initiatives.”

Each participating school contributes up to 20 pieces of artwork per grade, showcasing creative expressions from Grade 0 to Grade 7 along the length of the mall.

This year’s participating schools include:

  • American International School of Johannesburg (Pretoria Campus),
  • British Royal College,
  • Curro Hazeldean,
  • Hatfield Christian Primary School,

The school with the highest overall score will win a R10 000 prize.

Prize-giving will occur at the mall on Thursday, 28 May, with winners being notified via their schools by Tuesday, 26 May.

For families, the exhibition promises a free and delightful outing, where children enthusiastically lead parents from one artwork to the next, while grandparents tend to linger the longest.
