Ngcobo – Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, visited the family of the deceased Prosecutor Elona Sombulula in Ngcobo, Eastern Cape, to extend her condolences.

Sombulula, who worked as a prosecutor at the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court, was respected for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to justice.

The 36-year-old prosecutor was tragically shot in what appears to be a targeted attack on the evening of Tuesday, 29 April 2025, under unclear circumstances.

The motive for the murder remains unknown and is currently under investigation.

On Tuesday morning, Minister Kubayi conveyed her sincere condolences and promised the family the department’s unwavering support.

She emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring that those accountable for this act face justice.
