
Cape Town – The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has reported that a British Airways flight encountered an issue at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
In a statement issued to The Bulrushes, ACSA stated: “The details of the incident fall under the airline’s jurisdiction, and we encourage the media to reach out to British Airways for more information.”
“Nevertheless, ACSA confirms that all established emergency protocols were quickly and effectively implemented according to international aviation safety standards.”
“The incident was classified as a Phase 2 emergency activation.”
The aircraft returned to Cape Town International Airport, which provides extensive operational support and services beyond regular hours, ensuring a well-organized and efficient response.
“ACSA’s emergency response teams, in collaboration with all necessary stakeholders, were swiftly deployed to manage the situation and assist affected passengers,” the statement added.
“We are pleased to announce that the incident was handled without any injuries or harm, with safety as our top priority throughout the event.”
“The aircraft has been inspected and is deemed fit for service. Its departure has been rescheduled to adhere to mandatory crew rest requirements.”
