Lamontville Golden Arrows have loaned young striker Samkelo Mlaba to Hungry Lions, who participate in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, for the remainder of the season.
The 21-year-old, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Arrows, is anticipated to gain essential playing time with the Kimberly-based side. Arrows considers Mlaba a vital prospect, especially as he is the top scorer for their DStv Diski Challenge team.
With a strong selection of attacking players, Mlaba has encountered limited chances in the first team. This loan will grant him vital match experience.
Recently, a beneficial partnership has developed between Arrows and Hungry Lions. The Durban-based club previously acquired players such as Olwethu Ncube and Angelo van Rooi from Hungry Lions at the beginning of last season.
Mlaba leaves Arrows while they are enjoying a solid campaign, currently sitting fifth in the Betway Premiership with 18 points from 12 matches. In contrast, Hungry Lions are in 10th place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings, having accumulated 19 points after 15 games.
Mlaba is expected to make his debut for Hungry Lions against Baroka FC at the Global Stadium this Sunday at 15:30, pending the completion of all necessary paperwork.
