EDDIE HEARN has expressed skepticism about Tyson Fury’s boxing retirement, sporting a knowing smile and sharing a theory that implies the reality may be more complicated than it appears.
Recently, Fury stunned fans by announcing his retirement on social media after suffering his second defeat against Oleksandr Usyk.
Nonetheless, with a major fight against Anthony Joshua possibly on the cards, Hearn believes this is just a negotiating ploy.
In an interview on iFL TV, he remarked: “I expected this. If you wish to come back and maximize your earnings, announcing your retirement first is a smart move, right?
“Eventually, someone must lure you back into the ring. So, if this truly is the end for Tyson Fury, I wish him the best.
“However, I have my reservations, but I respect any choice he makes.”
Fury is known for his history of retirements, having announced his retirement three times before.
He recently stated in a video: “Hi everyone, I’ll keep this brief.
“I’m declaring my retirement from boxing. It has been an amazing journey, and I have cherished every moment.
“I’ll conclude with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, and see you on the other side.”

At the age of 36, Fury lost his WBC title and his unbeaten status to Usyk, now 37, who became the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in history.
Following this, the Ukrainian relinquished the IBF title to focus on his rematch, which he ultimately secured by unanimous decision in December.

Meanwhile, Joshua, 35, faced a knockout defeat against Dubois, 27, in September, resulting in the loss of the IBF title.
This development paves the way for AJ and Fury to potentially clash in a highly anticipated British showdown.
Hearn speculates that both the lure of financial incentives and a sense of ennui will eventually draw the charismatic Gypsy King back to the ring.
He remarked: “I believe he will be eager to fight again.
“I think he will find himself feeling bored, and he will recognize that the British public is eager for the AJ fight, so, in my opinion, we will likely see him return to the ring. If not, then again, best of luck to him.”
