Pienaar – Tragically, two individuals have succumbed to gunshot wounds in a hospital, raising the total death toll from the Saturday morning shooting at a tavern in Pienaar to eight.
Six victims lost their lives immediately when gunmen opened fire at the venue during the early hours in Mpumalanga.
Several others were injured and admitted to medical care.
One person has been discharged from the hospital, while two remain hospitalized.

As per Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, authorities found vehicles with visible bullet damage at the scene of the crime.
“Two VW Polo cars were found at the location, bearing bullet holes, and one of the deceased was discovered inside one of those vehicles,” Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane explained.
“The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.”
Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane indicated that no arrests have been made yet, but a specialized team is now focused on investigating the deadly shooting.
Mpumalanga Acting Police Commissioner Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi expressed his alarm, stating: “We are profoundly concerned by the recent acts of gun violence in our province, and we are diligently working to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.”
Mpumalanga Health MEC Sasekani Manzini remarked: “The department will continue to monitor the recovery of the two patients who are still receiving treatment.
“Initially, five patients were admitted; one unfortunately died on arrival while another passed away a few hours later.
“One patient is in the Intensive Care Unit, while another is stable. Just one patient has been discharged from the hospital.”
