Authorities in the Western Cape have detained two suspects in connection with a reported kidnapping and sexual assault incident that occurred in Grabouw in November 2024.

The arrests were made on Thursday in Bellville, prompted by a tip-off received by law enforcement agencies.

Firearm Seized During Arrest

Members of the Maitland Flying Squad identified a Volkswagen T-Cross linked to the case and stopped the vehicle, which had two individuals inside.

A search of the suspects and their vehicle uncovered a 9mm handgun along with 59 rounds of ammunition.

Although the owner presented a valid license for the firearm, officials believe the weapon might be connected to the alleged crimes.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

The suspects, aged 41 and 31, face charges of kidnapping and rape. Police spokesperson Sgt. Wesley Twigg confirmed that they are set to appear in court after formal charges are filed against them.
