LUKE LITTLER chose not to respond to a reporter’s inquiry following his triumph at the world championship.
The 17-year-old defeated Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in last night’s final, etching his name in history as the youngest champion of the tournament.
The modest Littler has continuously downplayed his abilities. After achieving success in the Premier League, he brushed aside claims that he might be the top darts player in the world.
He stated: “No. I don’t know [who], not me.”
Upon receiving the Sid Waddell trophy, The Nuke was asked during his press conference: “Will you now say if you are the best player in the world?”
Littler flashed a playful smile and replied: “I won’t tell. I won’t say.”
“Statistically, I might be the best. But I would never claim it.”
Alongside the world champion title, Littler was also honored with the Ballon d’Art award for recording the most 180 scores at Ally Pally, boasting an impressive total of 76 across his six matches.
This total is 20 more than Van Gerwen who came in second place and 33 more than third-placed Callan Rydz.

His victory at the World Championship netted him an astounding £500,000.

Littler’s total career earnings have now reached £1.5 million, with £1.2 million coming from ranking events.
However, Luke Humphries still holds the top spot in the PDC Order of Merit with overall earnings of £1.8 million.
Concluding the top five are Van Gerwen, Rob Cross, and Stephen Bunting.
The biggest drop in rankings was experienced by 2023 world champion Michael Smith, who slipped 14 places to 16th.
