Durban – A bus accident has taken place in the Ndwedwe area, situated to the north of Durban.

As reported by ALS Paramedics, they arrived at the scene of the bus collision in Ndwedwe on Saturday, (4 January 2025).

Upon arrival, the bus was discovered overturned on its side.

“At this time, reports suggest that there are several injured individuals, and numerous ambulances have been deployed to the scene,” stated Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics.

“Communication is proving to be difficult due to the absence of a cellphone network at the site.”

In light of the incident, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma stated: “One person has sadly lost their life, and 30 others have been injured following a bus crash involving members of the Nazaretha Baptist Church (Shembe Church).”

The MEC highlighted that a report from the Road Traffic Inspectorate indicated that the bus had caught fire.

The accident occurred on the P100 in Ndwedwe.

“MEC Duma has assigned a specialized team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident,” announced Ndabezinhle Sibiya, spokesperson for the Transport and Human Settlements Department.

“He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.”
