Cape Town – The beleaguered Cape Town City football club has introduced a new coach following Eric Tinkler’s departure earlier this week.
In a post on X, Cape Town City shared, “We are excited to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as the club’s Technical Director.
“Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football knowledge, having recently served as the Technical Advisor for the Turkish national team for the past four years.
“He will assume the position of head coach until the end of the current season, collaborating with first-team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
Tinkler parted ways with Cape Town City on Tuesday, December 29, 2024, after the team’s fifth loss of the season.
The “final straw” was the recent 0-1 loss to AmaZulu.
In announcing Tinkler’s exit, the club mentioned: “Cape Town City and head coach Eric Tinkler have mutually agreed to part ways.
“The club expresses its gratitude to Eric for three seasons in which he secured 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes.
“We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
“The club will shortly announce an interim coach as we gear up for an exciting new project for the 25/26 season and beyond.”
Meanwhile, Magesi FC, currently at the bottom of the Betway PSL, has appointed Owen da Gama as their new coach following Clinton Larsen’s resignation last month (December 2024).
Winners of the Carling Knockout Cup, Magesi currently sits at the bottom of the Betway PSL standings after 10 matches.
