Alexander-Arnold has been a part of Liverpool since 2006, progressing through their youth ranks.

If he does not secure a new deal, there is a chance he could depart on a free transfer next summer.

At 26 years old, he has yet to express whether he intends to leave the club he has supported from a young age for a new opportunity.

Nevertheless, this has not deterred Madrid from targeting the England international for an unexpected January transfer.

The inquiry made by Real about Alexander-Arnold was described as a “club-to-club inquiry rather than a formal bid,” according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool swiftly declined the offer, reinforcing their intention to retain Trent.

Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti is eager to secure a new right-back to strengthen his squad, currently weakened by injuries.

With Dani Carvajal likely out for the season, the reigning La Liga champions find themselves just one point behind city rivals Atletico in the league table.

In recent times, Madrid has increasingly focused on acquiring players on free transfers, offering attractive contracts to lure talent to the Bernabeu.

David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger  and more recently Kylian Mbappe serve as prime examples of this approach.

This week, Spanish media reported that Real is optimistic that Alexander-Arnold may consider a transfer at the end of the season.

They are aiming to finalize a deal in January due to their injury situation, but understand that waiting until the summer might be necessary.

Since making his debut almost a decade ago, Alexander-Arnold has accumulated 332 appearances for Liverpool.

During his time at the club, he has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and a Club World Cup.

Liverpool, who are currently leading the Premier League title race, also face the possibility of losing Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk on free transfers this summer.

Both players’ contracts are set to expire in May, and neither has reached an agreement on a new contract yet.
