Limpopo authorities are investigating a potential murder-suicide after the decomposed bodies of a couple were discovered in a residence in Northam.

Couple Found Deceased

According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the individuals, aged 24 and 34, were last seen together on Christmas Day around 11:45 p.m. at a local tavern. Their remains were located several days later, with the woman found in bed and the man hanging from the ceiling.

Authorities are withholding the names of the deceased until their families have been notified, although reports suggest that the woman was originally from Lesotho.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Police Commissioner for Limpopo, has condemned this incident and urged individuals in troubled relationships to seek professional assistance.

Robbery and Homicide Case

In a separate case, three suspects have been charged with the robbery and murder of a 59-year-old man in Sebayeng Township and have made their appearance in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.

This crime took place on July 21, 2024, when the suspects reportedly broke into the victim’s home, assaulted him, and strangled him before making away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities believe the victim had just received a significant payment.

The suspects were arrested on December 18 after an extensive investigation. Their court hearing has been postponed to January 3, 2025, for legal preparations.
