Johannesburg – A police officer who fatally shot a soccer fan from Protea Glen, Soweto, during Boxing Day has been arrested.
After the tragic incident, the officer linked to the Railway Protection and Security Services at Park Station, Johannesburg, failed to report for duty and has been missing ever since.

However, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) announced that the wanted constable was found in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, and was arrested shortly after 17:00 on Friday, 17 December 2024.
According to IPID, the officer facing murder charges is scheduled to appear at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 December 2024.
“The weapon used in the murder will also be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory for analysis,” stated IPID.
