ARSENAL’S aspirations for the title have encountered a significant hurdle, as Bukayo Saka is expected to be sidelined until March.

The Gunners’ forward is projected to miss up to 15 MATCHES during a crucial segment of the season.

Saka sustained a hamstring injury in the first half of Saturday’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed on Monday that Saka, 23, would be unavailable for “several weeks,” hinting that the winger might miss a significant portion of the current season.

Arteta remarked: “It’s not looking good. He’ll be out for several weeks.”

“I can’t provide exact details as I’m unsure — but it’s going to be a lengthy absence.”

“The sample size here is limited as he hasn’t had many prior issues.”

“However, based on his recovery patterns after matches, we can be hopeful that we may shorten that timeline.”

Arsenal is currently positioned third in the Premier League, sitting six points behind leaders Liverpool, having already played one additional match.

The Gunners are set to participate in 15 matches across all competitions before February 25, starting with a home game against Ipswich this Friday.

This does not account for the potential of Arteta’s side, currently challenging in four competitions, advancing further in the cup tournaments.

Arteta is only considering the transfer market for a substitute for Saka if “something exceptional” becomes available in the upcoming window.

He further stated: “My main focus is on the squad — on the resources we have to remain competitive.”

“We have many options available. Yet, if an extraordinary opportunity does present itself, and the club is prepared to act, we would need to evaluate the circumstances.”

Arteta mentioned that the England star, who has netted nine goals and provided ten assists this season, was notably distressed.

The Spaniard remarked: “He is devastated. Clearly, he hasn’t faced such an injury before, as he was very emotional and down. We must rally around him.”

Raheem Sterling is a viable candidate to fill in for him on the right wing, although the Chelsea loanee recently suffered a knee injury during practice.

Arteta concluded: “He’ll be out for several weeks, but we need further tests.”
