The former England international received his fifth yellow card during the draw with Chelsea and will now face a one-match suspension.

He was taken off in the final 15 minutes, allowing club captain Seamus Coleman to step in.

Dyche added that Young’s fitness is a concern for the upcoming match at the Etihad, as he was substituted in part due to an injury.

Dyche commented: “Youngy is suspended, but he hurt his neck, even though he made a fantastic header at the far post.

“We had to substitute him for both reasons – to make sure he was physically okay and because he was already on a yellow card.”

Both Young and his 18-year-old son Tyler, who plays for Peterborough United, are hopeful that the injury won’t keep him out for long.

This is particularly important as Everton is scheduled to face the League One side in the FA Cup on January 9, a game that could potentially feature a father-son matchup.

Despite his age, Young continues to play a key role for Everton, having made 14 Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season.

In other Everton developments, The Friedkin Group (TFG) has successfully completed its majority takeover of the club, with reports suggesting the deal exceeds £400m.

Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, a part of The Friedkin Group, has acquired Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 percent stake in the team.

The group struck a deal with Moshiri on September 23 and has now received regulatory approval from the Premier League.
