Molemole – Tragically, seven lives have been lost in a horrific multi-vehicle crash involving several cars on the N1 highway, near Ga Phasha village within the Molemole Municipality of the Capricorn District in Limpopo.

A minibus taxi that was transporting passengers was among the seven vehicles involved in the accident on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reported: “Seven lives were heartbreakingly taken at the scene, while five others were injured. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital for medical attention.”

Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Violet Mathye expressed profound sadness over the “devastating crash that occurred in the early hours of the morning.”

As a result of this tragic incident, the road at Ga Phasa village has been closed.

Motorists are urged to find alternative routes.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the multi-vehicle crash.

On behalf of the department and the wider Limpopo community, she “extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and their loved ones.”

She further highlighted, “Road safety is a collective responsibility for everyone.”
