Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is currently offline, leading to disruptions in water supply across several areas in Region 7, as reported by the City of Tshwane.

“The plant has been temporarily shut down due to a decrease in raw water quality, characterized by cloudiness following recent heavy rainfall,” the City of Tshwane stated in a brief announcement issued on Wednesday, (18 December 2024).

“Our technicians are closely monitoring the situation, and we will resume operations as soon as the water quality meets standards.”

The City of Tshwane has listed the following areas in Region 7 that will be affected:

  • Bronkhorstspruit Town
  • Ekandustria
  • Ekangala
  • Rethabiseng
  • Riamarpark
  • Zithobeni
  • Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (cross-border water supply)

The City of Tshwane has announced: “Water tankers will be dispatched to support all impacted areas.”

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.”
