MKP’s Year of Progress
This gala dinner is set to take place after the rally at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, celebrating the MK Party’s remarkable achievements since its founding by Zuma in December 2023.
In just a year, the party has established itself as the third-largest in South Africa and has become the official opposition in Parliament. It enjoys its strongest voter base in KwaZulu-Natal, having secured the majority of votes in the province during the May general elections.

Shivambu elaborated on strict measures to ensure the event remains focused on attendees from KwaZulu-Natal. “We have arranged transportation for all 11 regions within KwaZulu-Natal as well as 44 municipalities,” he noted, adding that free trains will be provided from kwaMashu, Cato Ridge, and uMlazi.

Transportation will not be provided for guests from other provinces. “Those who wish to attend at their own cost are welcome,” Shivambu stated.
Engaging the Progressive Caucus
The party has extended invitations to its allies from the parliamentary progressive caucus, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African Transformation Movement (ATM), and African Unity Congress (AUC), enabling them to share messages of support during the gathering.
Shivambu emphasized the significance of the event, asserting, “This anniversary rally and gala dinner mark the initial step forward on our journey toward enduring growth and unity.”
