The Placepot is a betting option where you choose a horse to finish in the FIRST SIX races of any event.

You can select multiple horses in each race – your stake will depend on how many selections you make in each race. Thus, for staking, it works out to be 2x2x2x1x2x2, which totals 32 lines.

You can stake as little as 5p a line, which amounts to £1.60 total. A stake of 10p a line will be £3.20, and so on. As long as at least one horse in each race finishes in a placed position, you’ll earn a payout!

Cheltenham Placepot tips – Friday, December 13th

LEG 1: That’s Nice, Country Mile

THAT’S NICE looks set to leverage the 7lb allowance given to her over the boys, demonstrating notable promise after her debut victory at Warwick last month. Nico De Boinville barely needed to encourage her as she claimed a smart win, and she is likely to build on that encouraging start.

COUNTRY MILE put in a solid effort in a Haydock Grade 2 last month, even though he lost ground at the final flight. This drier ground should be advantageous for the Skelton runner, who still possesses considerable room for advancement.

LEG 2: Caldwell Potter, Jango Baie

CALDWELL POTTER began to validate some of his significant purchase price with an impressive win on his chase debut at Carlisle 12 days ago. He jumped well and is anticipated to improve significantly from that performance. Previously a Grade 1 competitor over hurdles, he is a formidable opponent.

JANGO BAIE was also high-performing over hurdles and finished a disappointing second at Aintree last time out. Nicky Henderson has provided positive feedback regarding his training.

LEG 3: Valgrand, Tintintin

VALGRAND is expected to be much more comfortable returning to this distance, having begun the season with a Grade 2 victory on the Old course. He impressively won by 17 lengths there but was outclassed by the potentially outstanding Potters Charm over 2m5f last time he raced here. Despite carrying top weight, his initial rating could be lenient, and he performs well on good ground.

TINTINTIN delivered a strong fourth place in the Greatwood Hurdle here last month. He returns under the same mark, presenting solid place prospects once again.

LEG 4: Chianti Classico

CHIANTI CLASSICO possesses enough class to handle weight following his remarkable comeback win at Ascot last month. He demonstrated his abilities by winning the Ultima at this year’s Festival and put in a robust performance in a Grade 1 at Aintree. His exceptional jumping is his strong suit, and trainer Kim Bailey has had an enthusiastic start to the season.

LEG 5: Shan Blue, Shakem Up’Arry

SHAN BLUE had several commendable performances towards the end of the last season and delivered a promising fourth on his return at Bangor last time out. He traveled well for a substantial portion of the race in challenging conditions and will appreciate the anticipated better ground. Although inconsistent, this marks his first foray into a veterans’ race, which could finally highlight his best performance from a decreased mark.

SHAKEM UP’ARRY tends to shine after a break, having won the Festival Plate during his last outing at Cheltenham. Although he is carrying an extra 6lbs today, he remains a formidable competitor.

LEG 6: Mister Coffey, Delta Work

MISTER COFFEY gets one last opportunity from me to secure a victory over fences. He returned strongly from a nine-month absence to deliver a solid performance on this cross-country course last time. While he finished well in second place, the winner had already taken a lead. With Nico De Boinville now more aware of his stamina, he can place the Nicky Henderson chaser closer to the pace, and his weight has conveniently lessened.

DELTA WORK has an impressive record here and poses a significant challenge. Although he seemed somewhat rusty during his return at Down Royal last month, he is expected to regain his full capabilities. With Rob James enabling him to shed 7lbs, he won’t even be carrying the top weight.
