Johannesburg – Thulani Mngomezulu, a defense attorney involved in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, has tragically passed away in the hospital.

Family spokesperson Dumisile Mngomezulu conveyed the news, stating: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and son.”

“We confirm that he unexpectedly passed away in the early hours of December 10, 2024, at Thelle Moroerane Hospital in Vosloorus.”

As the murder trial was aired live on television, Lawyer Mngomezulu became a familiar figure to many viewers.

He represented Muzikawukhulelwa “Muzi” Sibiya, who is the primary accused in this ongoing trial.

Since November 8, 2024, Mngomezulu had been absent from court due to health complications.

“During this time of grief, we kindly ask for your understanding, privacy, and time to come together as a family to navigate the days ahead,” the family spokesperson stated.

“We appreciate your love and support during this difficult time, and we kindly request that you keep us in your prayers.”

Social media users quickly reminded their followers that trial Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng had previously suggested that the unwell lawyer Mngomezulu might be evading court appearances.
