Durban – A woman in her seventies has sadly lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on the M13, heading toward Durban near Kings Avenue in Westville.
As reported by ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the incident took place on Monday morning, shortly after 09:00.
“When paramedics arrived at the scene, they encountered mayhem, as the vehicle had rolled several times and was found overturned,” Jamieson stated.
“Upon their arrival, paramedics discovered that the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped inside the wreckage.”
“Unfortunately, the woman, believed to be in her seventies, sustained critical injuries, and despite the paramedics’ efforts, they could not save her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Jamieson warned that the scene remains active and will continue to be so for some time.
“We advise motorists to reduce their speed due to the prevailing wet weather conditions,” he mentioned.
“It’s prudent to leave a bit earlier to ensure you reach your destination safely. Also, make certain that your vehicle’s windscreen wipers and tyres are functioning properly.”
The circumstances leading to the crash are currently unclear, but officers from the SA Police Service were on the scene.
