Johannesburg – A 43-year-old woman from Paraguay has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport, making her the fourth person apprehended for drug trafficking in just two weeks.
The suspect arrived from São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, December 6, 2024, and was caught trying to smuggle narcotics.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk stated, “The drug mule was taken to a local hospital where a medical X-ray revealed foreign objects in her stomach.”
“A total of 33 drug pellets containing cocaine were ultimately extracted.”
“This arrest marks the fourth drug trafficker detained at OR Tambo International Airport within the last two weeks.”
