Rules and Format of the Snooker Shoot Out 2024

The Snooker Shoot Out features a distinctive format that pushes players to compete against the clock.

Each match is restricted to a maximum of 10 minutes, with a 15-second shot clock in the first half and a 10-second shot clock in the latter half.

Key rules include:

• Frames are limited to 10 minutes maximum.
• The shot clock ensures players maintain pace.
• During the first five minutes, players have 15 seconds for each shot.
• In the subsequent five minutes, players are allowed 10 seconds per shot.
• A five-point penalty (or the equivalent of the pink or black if attempted) is enforced for failing to shoot in time.
• Every shot must either make contact with a cushion or pot a ball.
• Failure to comply with the rules results in the ball being handed to the opponent.
• Players begin with a “lag” for the first break by striking the white ball from the baulk line against the top cushion.
• The player closest to the baulk cushion wins the lag.
• A shoot-out with the blue ball resolves tied matches, demanding players pot the blue from its position to a top pocket.
• Flukes do not count on the final blue.
