Johannesburg – The ongoing heatwave may present difficulties for Kaizer Chiefs as they make their way to Limpopo to face Polokwane City in a Betway Premiership clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium this Sunday afternoon.
The match is scheduled to start at 15:30.
The SA Weather Service (SAWS) predicts that the heatwave could persist for several more days, meaning the Chiefs will contend with blistering conditions in the north – unless there’s a postponement of the kick-off time.
The Glamour Boys are keen to get back to winning ways after squandering a two-goal lead against Royal AM.
The Soweto giants scored twice in the first half, thanks to efforts from Ashley Du Preez and Wandile Dube.
However, Ayabulela Maxwele and Levy Mashiane equalized for Royal AM, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi voiced his disappointment with the result, citing a “lack of professionalism” displayed by certain Chiefs players, which contributed to losing their 2-0 advantage.
In order to correct this oversight, the Tunisian coach will need to factor in the high temperatures expected at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, which the Glamour Boys will face during their upcoming match.
