A hijacking attempt took place early Sunday morning in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, leaving a Good Samaritan injured. The incident occurred around 02:31 on Jabu Ngcobo Road while a man was shot as he assisted a stranded driver.

A female driver was en route to Ndwedwe, KZN, when her white VW Polo sedan suffered a flat tire.

A passerby stopped to help when the situation took a turn. A white Nissan NP200 bakkie, with unconfirmed registration plates, obstructed both vehicles while its occupants attempted to rob the stranded driver and hijack one of the cars.

During the confrontation, the Good Samaritan who had come to assist was shot in the arm. The suspects quickly fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.

Investigation Ongoing

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) members responded to the scene after receiving reports of the shooting. The injured individual was treated at the location before being transported to a medical facility for further care.
