Boxing star Curmel Moton had his scheduled bout with Bryan Mercado canceled due to a SIGNIFICANT weight issue on Friday.
Moton, under the mentorship of renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather, reported an unexpected weight of 15 POUNDS over the designated limit.
The 18-year-old has an impressive 6-0 record since turning pro last September on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo undercard, but he was unable to keep that momentum going this weekend.
Originally from Utah, the promising boxer was set to compete against Mercado at 133 pounds in New Jersey but instead weighed in at a staggering 148.7 pounds.
This significant weight miss elicited gasps during the weigh-in, marking it as one of the most noteworthy weight discrepancies in boxing history.
As a result, Moton was withdrawn from the fight card due to the severe weight discrepancy.
Social media users took the opportunity to poke fun at the emerging star for his considerable weight miss, humorously attributing it to a lavish Thanksgiving feast.
One user remarked: “Wow, bro really had the ultimate Thanksgiving dinner.”
Another added: “He didn’t even attempt to make weight.”
A third quipped: “His toughest opponent was cookies.”

Following the weigh-in incident, Moton explained the situation, stating that complications with his bloodwork were the reason he could not compete.
On Instagram, he expressed: “I want to apologize to everyone who intended to come to Jersey to watch me fight.
“I have been in touch with the commission regarding my bloodwork clearance, but they misplaced my blood sample in their system [making it challenging for the fight to be approved].
“I’ve known about this issue for three days, so stressing about making weight was unnecessary.
“They still insisted I weigh in for some arbitrary reason, and they used that as the justification for canceling the fight.
“Nonetheless, I will be back in Japan on December 30th. I look forward to seeing all of you there.”
