FORMULA E has revealed a significant shift in its broadcasting strategy, signaling a return to free-to-air television.
Previously, the motorsport series was broadcast on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5, but it recently transitioned to a paywall format on TNT Sports, marking a first in its ten-year history.
Confirmation has been received that the series will be back on ITV for the 2024/25 season, featuring live broadcasts and highlights on the ITVX app and ITV4.
The season will kick off on December 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Formula E‘s chief media officer, Aarti Dabas, stated, “We are excited to provide UK and Ireland fans enhanced access to our thrilling championship thanks to our valued media partners – TNT Sports and now ITV, offering various ways to engage with the sport.
“Our new highlights show following each race weekend on ITV will feature exclusive content straight from the paddock, enriching the experience for both newcomers and dedicated fans.
“We are eager to increase the excitement on track and expand the sport’s fan base.”
This broadcasting transition will also introduce a new presenting lineup, with former BBC host Jermaine Jenas stepping away from the all-electric racing series.
Innovative presenter Nicki Shields is returning, making history as the first female lead in the series.
Since joining the team in 2014, she has become a vital presence both on and off the track and was notably the first female lead commentator for the F1 Academy during its recent launch.

Reflecting on her new position, Shields said, “I vividly remember my first Formula E race in Beijing back in 2014, and my enthusiasm for this sport is as strong as ever, even after a decade.
“I am thrilled to take on the role of lead presenter for Season 11. It’s a tremendous privilege to share the thrill and drama of this extraordinary sport with fans globally.

“Alongside our talented presenting team, we are dedicated to bringing audiences closer to the action than ever before. Bring on São Paulo!”
Joining her will be racing drivers Billy Monger and Catie Munnings, along with sports commentator Tom Brooks.
Pundits throughout the season will include David Coulthard, Karun Chandhok, Andre Lotterer, James Rossiter, and Alan McNish.
Saunders Carmichael-Brown and Alexa Rendell will also return as pitlane reporters.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds noted before the London season finale that the switch to pay-per-view had resulted in viewership numbers “falling short of our expectations.”
Last season, Pascal Wehrlein claimed the championship title, narrowly defeating Mitch Evans by a mere six points.
